Indianapolis, IN, October 21st, 2016 —Milliner & Associates, headquartered in Indianapolis, IN, was conferred a 2016 American Staffing Association Care Award honorable mention distinction. This national awards program recognizes outstanding corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives—business processes that produce an overall positive effect on society—among ASA member staffing firms, associate members (staffing industry suppliers), and regional councils and affiliated chapters.

Milliner & Associates was honored for its program entitled “Mentoring Today’s Youth into Tomorrow’s Leaders”. This is the 2nd year in a row that Milliner & Associates has been recognized by the American Staffing Association for its dedication to volunteerism and corporate social responsibility. Milliner & Associates won the Care Award in 2015 and is proud to be chosen as an Honorable Mention recipient in 2016. In two short years, Milliner & Associates has formed a solid partnership with Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG) and Decatur Central High School (DCHS) to provide professional mentorship and to coach/train on the core employability competencies of resume writing, interviewing, networking, team building and soft skills. From October 2015 – June 2016, their 9 member team (including interns) participated in 26 activities and volunteered 176+ staff hours (106 more hours than last year) that benefitted 83 DCHS students (24 more than last year). They have created a participation model that JAG professionals hope to replicate throughout the State of Indiana in each JAG classroom.

“Our CSR initiative is proof that the size of your company doesn’t have to be directly proportional to the level of impact you can have on your community. We hope that we’re teaching the JAG students that with enough heart, drive and passion, small groups can move mountains and effect considerable positive change. We feel that our CSR is to build relationships and mentor young people so that we may help educate and prepare them for their professional journeys. By leveraging our industry knowledge and talents, we are exploring new ways to make a difference and leaving a lasting footprint in the community.” – Nicole Bieker, Vice President of Operations

The ASA Care Awards honor CSR initiatives that involve employee training and professional development, community engagement, “green” business practices, philanthropy, and more. A panel of CSR experts select the honorees.

The ASA Care Award honorees will be celebrated at Staffing World® 2016, the ASA convention and expo, Oct. 25-27, in San Diego, CA.
